Beat Your Stress To Beat Your Back Pain
The muscles are in constant contact with the central nervous system. Emotions like anger or anxiety often make the muscles tense. Over time, tense muscles will move less easily and lose their full range of motion. This will affect their ability to keep the back stable and cause lower back pain.
Your Internal dialogue. You are aware of the voice inside your head-you are thinking to yourself all day long. This internal dialogue often stirs up the negative emotions like anger or fear. Say that you had an argument with someone at work or home (maybe you were right to get angry). However, days after this argument, you are still going over the events in your mind. You’re thinking things like: ‘How dare she talk that way to me?’, ‘The next time I see him Ill give him a piece of my mind’ and so on. This internal conversation is not helping you cope with your anger at the situation. You are fuelling the anger every time you mentally repeat the argument. If you become aware of this internal arguing, you will then be able to train yourself to stop.
10 Step Relaxation Exercise. These are preferable done lying down. For each of these positions, breathe in, hold the position for 5-10 seconds, making your muscles as tense as you can. Then breathe out and release the muscle tension. 1. Make fists and tighten your forearms. 2. Make fists again and curl your biceps, tensing all of the arm. 3. Shrug your shoulders to your ears. Tilt your head back and tense the back of your neck. At the same time, push your tongue against the roof of your mouth, making the front neck tense. 4. Close your eyes tight, frowning at the same time. Smile as broadly as you can. 5. Open your jaw as wide as you can. 6. Hug yourself, tensing the chest muscles 7. Push the shoulder blades together, keeping your arms by your sides and pressing your palms into your thighs. You should feel the upper back muscles tense. 8. Pull in your abdomen towards the spine as much as you can 9. Keep your legs together, tighten your thighs and buttocks. 10. Point your feet and tighten your calves .
Positive attitude The way we react to situations is as important as the situations themselves. A more positive attitude helps us accept difficult situations more easily. A negative attitude will also be compounded with a negative internal dialogue.
Get 8 Hours Of Sleep The body needs about 8 hours of sleep each night. To fall asleep more easily, avoid over stimulating yourself late at night e.g. watching violent movies makes it more for the mind to relax and fall asleep. Lessen your internal dialogue;if you are thinking about an argument you had, say to yourself that you will think about it some other time.
